We sat down with Craig Litwiller, senior director of learning technology, to learn more about who he is and how he supports our partners.

How would you describe your job to someone who is unfamiliar with the field?

My job is to work with institutions to improve the experience of their online courses for students, faculty and staff through the use of technology and best practices.

How does your role help support our partners?

We find ways to make things easier for our partners. Our number one goal is to make sure that technology isn’t a barrier and that our partners can focus on what they do best.

What do you most enjoy about your role at Collegis?

Solving problems and making things better. I like to see the direct impact of the work we do for our partners.

What do you most enjoy about Collegis as a company?

The people I work with. This includes my coworkers as well as the individuals that we get to work with at our partner institutions.

How would you describe the Collegis culture?

Caring. Collegis is a company filled with employees that want to help. In my role, I am surrounded by employees that genuinely want to understand our partners’ pain points and then try to find creative ways to make these pains go away.

What drew you to work in the higher education field?

I have always enjoyed learning and teaching new concepts. While in school, I got the opportunity to be a student teacher. I had such a great experience doing it that I continued to look for other opportunities in the education space.

What is one thing you’ve learned about higher ed since you started working at Collegis?

No matter the institution, every person I have interacted with at a school always wants to try to make things better.

Where did you go to college, and what degree(s) did you obtain?

I went to the Illinois Institute of Art and received a bachelor’s degree in multimedia and computer animation.

What do you value most from your own college experience?

I learned to never be afraid to ask questions. Chances are you are not the only one with the same question.

When you were younger, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to be an inventor.

What advice would you give to someone who is just starting out in their career?

There is never a dumb question, and it’s okay to admit that you do not know or understand something.

What is one skill you’d love to add to your resume?

Bilingual. I have always wanted to be able to fluently speak another language.

How would you spend an unexpected day of PTO?

When I’m not at work, you can typically find me spending time with my wife or out in the garage woodworking.
