Let us introduce you!
Marketers, designers, software engineers … just a few of the people who dive into each of our partners’ missions, goals and values in order to create custom revenue and enrollment growth solutions. Every single person at Collegis is integral to our ability to deliver for our partners.
We sat down with Matthew Mottl, Associate Director – Solutions Architect, to learn more about who he is and how he supports our partners.
How would you describe your job to someone outside of the field?
I work with our sales team and prospective partners to determine the “right fit” solutions for new partners.
Name three words that describe your role at Collegis.
- Listening
- Creativity
- Problem-solving
How does your role help support our partners?
Determining the right solutions for a new partner is critical in order for the partner solutions team to be able to deliver on the contract and also manage the expectations of the partner. This generally makes for happy partners.
What skills do you need to succeed in your role?
You have to be able to listen to what a prospective partner is trying to solve. The solution isn’t always what they think it will be. You also need to be creative and a big-picture thinker to visualize how each piece can impact the whole picture.
What do you enjoy most about your role at Collegis?
I love the problem solving component of this role. It allows for great creativity and flexibility.
What do you enjoy most about Collegis?
There are so many talented, brilliant people at Collegis! I honestly learn something new from my colleagues almost every day.
What drew you to work in the higher education field?
I’ve always been drawn to higher ed. I’ve spent almost my entire career in this field, mostly in admissions, recruitment, enrollment management and campus operations. Having spent so many years on the school side has been extremely valuable to my role at Collegis.
Where did you go to college and what degree did you obtain?
I’m a proud graduate of St. Cloud State University with an English degree. I also have a Master’s in Management.
What do you value most from your own college experience?
My classroom experience in college was valuable but my experience outside of the classroom has been just has helpful in my career.
What qualities do you look for when adding members to your team?
- Creativity
- Innovation
- Tenacity
What is one thing you’ve learned about higher ed since you started working at Collegis?
I dabbled in marketing prior to coming to Collegis but have learned so much more in the time I’ve been here. Having incredibly intelligent and dedicated teammates has definitely helped with that.
Is there a particular Collegis project you worked on that is most memorable to you?
I’ll always remember the first partner institution I worked with. They were not an easy group to impress and our team approached all of the work as if we needed to prove to them that they made the right decision in signing with Collegis. Everyone working on that team did an outstanding job! We impressed a group of senior leadership that wasn’t easily impressed. I’m really proud of that team and the work we did for them to start that relationship.
What’s something you’re hoping to check off your bucket list?
I’m a huge music fan and love checking out new venues. Seeing a show at the Gorge amphitheater in Washington state is high on my bucket list.
