Let us introduce you!
Marketers, designers, software engineers … just a few of the people who dive into each of our partners’ missions, goals and values in order to create custom revenue and enrollment growth solutions. Every single person at Collegis is integral to our ability to deliver for our partners.
We sat down with Min Lee, Manager of Application Support, to learn more about who he is and how he supports our partners.
How would you describe your job to someone outside of the field?
I support enterprise application and collaboration tools that are used on a day-to-day basis by staff and faculty.
What three words describe your role at Collegis?
- Collaboration
- Technical support
- Leadership
How does your role help support our partners?
With technology being a huge part of our partners’ day-to-day activities, I am able to understand those key applications and provide the support that is needed to keep their operations running smoothly.
What skills do you need to succeed in your role?
- Understanding of applications
- Knowledge of server functionalities
- Motivation
- Determination
What do you enjoy most about your role at Collegis?
Establishing a relationship with my co-workers and Collegis leadership team. Each interaction allows me to learn more about how to think outside the box and continues to help me grow personally and professionally.
What do you enjoy most about Collegis?
The leadership at Collegis takes the time to know you as a person and not just an employee. Rather than just asking “How is this project going?” they start by asking things like “How is your family? How is soccer going for your son?” This is the culture of not only leadership but my colleagues as well, which makes Collegis feel like a family.
What drew you to work in the higher education field?
While in College, I saw the dedication the staff and faculty have for their students. The support I received allowed me to focus on my degree and graduate. I wanted to find a way to give back so the staff and faculty can continue to provide that support to other students. This is what drew me to the higher education field and kept me here for more than 10 years.
Where did you go to college and what degree did you obtain?
I earned a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology from Rasmussen University and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Saint Leo University.
What do you value most from your own college experience?
While attending Rasmussen, I was provided with a solid foundation about technology. Being able to work in a live environment and having been provided hands-on training gave me the necessary experience and confidence to start my career in IT.
What qualities do you look for when adding members to your team?
- Team player
- Driven
- Strong communicator
- Open-minded
What is one thing you’ve learned about higher ed since you started working at Collegis?
I’ve learned that technology plays a huge role in higher education not only for the staff and faculty but for the students as well. You only think about the basic needs like a laptop or a mobile device and internet, but the behind-the-scenes technology is something you rarely hear about. Working at Collegis, I get to experience everyday what it takes to keep institutional applications running and the various integrations that are necessary to make things function properly.
Is there a particular Collegis project you worked on that is most memorable to you?
During the recent COVID-19 pandemic, I was able to work with various departments to implement a dynamic remote work experience for employees. It was rewarding to see Collegis come together to help not only our own company, but also our partner institutions as we all adapted to working remotely. It was fulfilling knowing I was helping ensure everyone had the tools needed to access resources and be successful.
What’s something you’re hoping to check off your bucket list?
I’d love to visit Korea and learn more about my culture (I haven’t been back since immigrating to America in 1973).
