Cowie to immediately oversee day-to-day operations

MINNEAPOLIS (January 26, 2017)—Collegis Education, an integrated enrollment management solutions company, today announced the appointment of James E. Cowie as president and chief executive officer of Collegis. Cowie has served as executive chairman of the Collegis Board of Directors since 2015 and interim CEO of Collegis since summer 2016. As president and CEO, Cowie will be responsible for the overall growth and success of Collegis Education.

“Jamie has successfully led Collegis through the company’s first two years of operation, including the addition of a dozen new partner institutions and helping the majority of our partners experience double-digit enrollment growth rates,” said Robert E. King, vice chairman of the Collegis Board of Directors. “We are thrilled to expand his role at Collegis to include more operational oversight as well as be able to continue to lean on his many years of entrepreneurial experience in developing technology-enabled solutions.”

Prior to joining Collegis as executive chairman, Cowie had a nearly three decade career as a private equity executive at Frontenac Company located in Chicago. While at Frontenac, he specialized in investing in business services and technology-enabled solutions companies. Cowie also worked at Merrill Lynch Capital Markets where he served in the Emerging Growth Companies Group within the Investment Banking Division. Over the course of his career, Jamie has worked closely with nearly three dozen companies ranging from startup to several billion dollars in revenue.

“It’s an honor and a privilege to lead and oversee a company that’s dedicated to helping colleges and universities improve lives through education as well as continue to work among an executive leadership team with more than two decades of higher education experience,” said Cowie. “Collegis Education understands the challenges institutions face to reach students, grow enrollments and improve student outcomes, and the unprecedented growth our partner institutions are seeing proves our integrated approach to enrollment growth is like no other in the market. I’m confident Collegis will continue to innovate and bring forward solutions that positively impact the institutions we serve.”

Cowie is a graduate of Colby College. He also received a Master of Business Administration from Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
