Every single person at Collegis Education is integral to our ability to deliver for our partners. Our team is comprised of talented, dedicated employees who focus on creating custom, focused solutions that make our partners successful.
We sat down with Rebecca Anderson, Learning Solutions Coordinator, to take a peek into her world and learn more about how she impacts the work we do.
How would you describe your role?
I provide support and training on pedagogical (the theory and practice of teaching) and learning management systems (LMS). I typically work with the faculty and administration, but sometimes I also interact with and support students. My role is ever-changing and really relies upon collaboration.
How is your role key in supporting our partners?
By providing teachable moments and quickly rectifying a seemingly impossible situation, I am a lifebuoy for our partners. They know they can reach out to me or send their faculty and students to me for help.
What are some typical questions that you receive from partners throughout the day?
Partners often want an update on data or are seeking help explaining how to best do something with a newly introduced application or LMS.
What skills do you need to do your job?
There are certainly the basic, tactical skills like research, Excel, data analysis and teaching/training, but I also need to be patient, empathetic and forward-thinking to provide preemptive solutions before something actually goes wrong.
What do you most enjoy about Collegis?
Collegis is brimming with creativity, talent and experience. If I find myself at a road block, I am confident that my colleagues will provide insight or options that will help complete the task. I learn something new every day.
What draws you to the higher education industry?
I believe that learning never has to stop. The knowledge and skills one can achieve after high school are invaluable. Higher ed is the next step in shaping society’s future.
What is one thing you’ve learned about higher ed since you started working at Collegis?
I did not realize how vastly different the hierarchal order of decision making or the internal processes for project/task completion would be.
What qualities do you look for when hiring new members for your team?
- Flexibility
- Reliability
- Resourcefulness
- Intrinsic motivation
Where did you go to college and what degree did you obtain?
I have a B.S. in Human Development and Family Sciences with a Minor in Psychology and emphasis in Business from Northern Illinois University. I also obtained my M.Ed in Organizational Leadership from American InterContinental University.
What is something you hope to check off your bucket list?
I’d love to ride in a hot air balloon.
